Social

Our clubhouse provides excellent bar and catering facilities serving the needs of members as well as visiting sailors, clubs and cruising associations, who are always welcome. In addition to being the host to many of our social events and gatherings the clubhouse is a fantastic venue that can be booked for private and corporate functions by members and non members.

Winter Talks

From October to April the Royal Harwich, in collaboration with the Cruising Association, present a series of talks on a wide variety of nautical topics for members and their guests.

Art Group

The RHYC Art Group was founded, in 2009, by the late Sue Rolls, Graduate in Fine Art and Design.

Members can work in any medium and provide their own materials which maybe oils, acrylic, water colour, pen and ink, pencils, pastels and collage etc. We enjoy a group lunch in the clubhouse when we are often joined by family members. In the summer we had several sessions “en plein air”.

We have an annual exhibition of about fifty of our latest works. This usually takes place in early May in conjunction with the Cruising Association Rally. 4-6 May 2024

We are all amateurs who have found that the stimulation of working together has helped us develop our own artistic skills.

There is a long tradition of sailor artists, why not become part of it. We welcome all newcomers whatever their level of skill-including beginners.

Library

There are also several members’ cruising logs which have been entered for the Cruising Log Trophy over the years.

Most of the library stock may be borrowed by members and makes a great source of escapist and inspiring reading for your summer cruise or winter fireside. Instructions for borrowing are in the Library Loans Book.
