Racing
RHYC has a busy programme of racing events, including many Open Events.
Popular classes at the club are ILCA’s, Toppers, Teras, Wayfarers and Ajax keel boats,
as well as the handicap class for other dinghies and yacht and cruiser racing.
The Club organises numerous Open Events, and hosts the prestigious RORC North Sea Race.
We place a huge emphasis on Junior Sailing, and our Junior Race Week is renowned, attracting participants from far and wide.
Ajax
The Ajax 23 One Design class is one of the largest one design classes currently racing on the East Coast. Our fleet of 15 Ajax 23 race between April and October from.
Lasers
The Laser fleet is the largest dinghy fleet at the RHYC and is made up an eclectic group of individuals. We have sailors from all ages and sizes sailing Full, Radial and 4.7s.
Toppers
The Topper class is a great dinghy for beginner sailing and racing – it has a simple rig and is easy to sail, so it is also a very popular boat at the club.
Optimist
The club owns a fleet of new, plastic training Optimist style dinghies for teaching young beginners to sail. These are primarily used for informal Junior Saturday Sailing sessions
Cruisers
Racing is a great excuse to get out on the water. Not only is it a brilliant way to get all your crew practicing some key skills, it is a good way to become involved with the sailing community at the club.
Juniors
Junior Race Week is from the 19th to the 23rd August 2024.
